Working With Communities

We are passionate about engaging communities with their local river so that they can enjoy their beauty and peacefulness, as well as their proven benefits for mental and physical wellbeing. In order to promote this, we regularly run river related events such as river dipping, nature walks and talks and other activities.

The majority of our work would not be possible without the invaluable knowledge and support of local communities, and we are always looking for new opportunities to work with existing groups or interested individuals. Our main ongoing work with communities is through our Adopt a Tributary project, which gets local people together and provides them with the knowledge, skills and equipment necessary to help protect a section of their local river and help make improvements for water quality and wildlife. You can find out more about this project on our volunteering page.

We also deliver a range of education work with schools and higher education facilities – see our Education page.
