Are you interested in working in environmental conservation, but are unsure of how to get started? This is a brilliant opportunity to join our friendly and supportive team in a starter role to help you into a career in conservation. You will be working on projects that will make a real and lasting difference, helping to save our rivers and the species that rely on them.
We’re on the hunt for four people from Neath Port Talbot to join our friendly team for our Environmental Skills Program. You must be 18 or over, but you don’t need previous experience or qualifications to apply. We’re encouraging applications from career changers, people who are out of work, students and graduates. All we ask is that you are enthusiastic about making a difference!
With support from WWRT staff, River Restoration Interns will work as a team on a range of river conservation work. You will undertake wildlife surveys, support scientific research through fieldwork, data collection and technical analysis and carry out habitat improvements. You will inspire children by helping with schools’ workshops and build social skills by running volunteer tasks. You will learn how to produce newsletters, press releases and practice managing online content such as social media channels. The role will include both field and desk-based experience, ranging from project planning to delivery of events. Whilst many of the activities will take place in the County of Neath Port Talbot, interns will be given the opportunity to gain experience in other aspects of WWRT’s river restoration work across West Wales.
