Did you catch us on ITV’s Coast and Country last night? We were with Swansea University discussing our joint Nature Networks funded project to remove barriers on the Western and Eastern Cleddaus, the Tywi, the Teifi and the Usk, with Swansea University, Afan Valley Angling Club, Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru / Natural Resources Wales and Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.
The footage focussed on one of the smaller weirs we are removing on the Cleddau Ddu – as Helen from our team discusses in the footage, these barriers are just as important to remove as they fragment the river, degrade habitat, disrupt flows of water, essential nutrients and sediment, as well as disconnect fish from their habitats.
