As part of our on-going Rheidol Restoration Project, our great volunteers made a fantastic effort in clearing the invasive non-native plant species Himalayan Balsam from the Afon Melindwr this weekend.
After clearing a large patch of balsam, we even had some time to do a bit of kick sampling, which showed Afon Melindwr is looking very healthy with lots of Mayfly nymphs present (Rhithrogena Semicolorata) along with a host of other invertebrates.
There will be lots of volunteering opportunities available over the coming months so please get in touch if you are keen to tackle Himalayan Balsam in your stretch of the Rheidol!

Thanks to the Landfill Disposals Tax Communities Scheme for supporting this project.
