There is a new suggestion to encourage farmers to help water quality – in England.
This is where devolution is stupid. Many water tables drain from Wales into England. The Wye and the Severn being two rivers originating in Wales an ending in England.
If Wales, Scotland and Ireland are to follow here is the main paragraph on who is eligible:
Who could apply?
The proposed scheme would be available to a wide range of external applicants for example, land managers and land owners, charities, public sector bodies, farmers or foresters. We expect the scheme would be delivered through those partners who already work closely with the Environment Agency and Natural England, like the Catchment Partnerships, although there is the potential for anyone to apply.
Natural England and the Environment Agency (and other non-governmental departmental bodies) would not be able to apply for the scheme.
Final administration details of the scheme have yet to be determined. Natural England and the Environment Agency would play a central role in determining which projects meet the scheme objectives and are a priority for funding.
