Unfortunately the short termism of politicians perversely encourages politicians to ignore longer term investments. Agriculture will trump the environment until there are more short term votes in the latter. Since agriculture is more and more mechanised and employs fewer and fewer people, especially after Brexit, there is hope that politicians will start to change their approach in time. Meanwhile we are all sitting in it..
